Repost from @girlswholikebeer ❤️

A lot of people misunderstand (or just don’t understand) how women in the craft beer industry want to be valued. I don’t pretend to speak for everyone, but I’m pretty sure most of us would rather be celebrated for our work and dedication to the industry. On that note (and I’m referring to a specific recent IG post by a celebrated craft beer bar), being sexy and feeling empowered don’t necessarily go hand in hand. Often the former is used to relegate women to sex-object status, not the so-called empowerment argument being used in that recent post. And, men, when women are objectified, just because they participated in it does NOT mean the following: «she had a choice» = EQUALITY!
NO.
Although as a whole, this is a complicated subject that I don’t seek to resolve on my Instagram feed, but something needs to be said. And in regards to doing something, I’m going to start sharing some actual representations of female empowerment in craft beer. If you’d like to share your photo and positive story as a woman in craft beer, feel free to DM me, tag me and/or use the hashtag #WomenOfCraftBeer
When I share these posts, feel free to also tag an account that may not have a positive view of women in beer, maybe we can change some minds! 👩💪
